IRS offers the option to improve weight bias (upgrading to longer trailing arms) and maintain better stability (less arc in wheel travel) ,,,2 very important issues in woodsbuggys. Parts are more readily available. And some swapping is simpler. (putting bus tranny in is big improvement) Cons,,,Torsion requires changing or altering if you already run swingaxle (IRS torsion can go both ways)

Swingaxle will get you riding if thats what you already have and It is nice ot see old school still in the mix. No CV's to brake . With superdiff are pretty tough. Cons, the gearing isn't as good unless you use old bus gear reduction. Wheel travel is limited offering a rougher ride.

hay thanks. i am buying a frame that has a swing axel in it but i have a 1976 super bug pan and it has the irs and trans. so may be down the road i can swap it out.

When you get ready to swap it, ask questions about how to line it up. I think I may have mine in a little out of wack. Make sure it has good frame horns , if you plan to use them. Mine had some stripped threads and I wound up using fix all on it ( I welded it) .If you decide you dont like the IRS (you won't) you can put the swing arm back on the IRS torsion.
