Anyone with a turbo engine tried the water/methanol injection so you can run higher boost without race fuel? Devilsown and Snow have some decent looking systems but I don't know a whole lot about them. Looks like a good idea considering you can run race gas tuning with pump gas and methanol injection. I have read of guys using winter blend windshield washer fluid since its a 50/50 blend of methanol and water. Everything I have read seems to put the usage around 1 gallon injection mix per 20 gallons of fuel.

well first carbed or injected before or after turbo. ive seen alcohol carbs before turbo that work real good. race gas at 5.50 a gallon alcohol at around 2.75 why not just run alcohol. even thruogh you use 2 times more its the same cost. alcohol will up you compression about a half but it has cooling efacts which leads to more hp ive seen a 750 cfm alcohol carb on a 2180 vw before. well this is a start

The idea is to run pump gas and inject a very small amount of 50% water and 50% methanol. The injected mixture allows you to run more boost at a more advanced timing curve without fear of detonation. This equals out to more power for less money. The same boost and timing would require racing fuel where this method requires filling up at the gas station. Here is a link to one of the manufactures sites:

I'm sure this will get the propane guys attention also since they get the higher octane and lower cost as well. I don't want to switch to propane yet so this seems like a good option for more power with less cost.

The F.I. system that I have is designed just for that, though I don't have it hooked up. It's a TimsSystems F.I. it's pretty neat, but a pain in the ass at times too. You have to manually adjust hi, mid and low, boost enrichment, boost enhanced injection and controls secondary injectors for when boost happens it can inject methanol. Here's what the injectors looked like.

Why not propane enrichment?

I don't know how you would control the propane enrichment but I guess it could be done. Most of the water or water and methanol kits I have seen come in somewhere around $400 and are pretty simple to install and operate. I'm not to the point where I need it yet but its always nice to plan ahead while the frame is bare metal and not powder coated yet.

This is wot I use its just a bottle with a hose in the top attached to manifold psi with 5/16 or bigger hose. The hose in the bottom is connected to the comp. housing with a stating aid injector aimed at the comp. wheel. Flow is regulated with a idl. jet. When manifold psi is increased the water dose the same. The best part is there is no moving parts and its cheep. Use a small filter before the jet to keep it clean. I like to use windshield washer fluid.ImageImage
