id say for a total swap over you will have roughly between 500-600 for it all. 350 for a good 3 rib id expect to pay. cv's new are 50 a piece axles used are 50 a set usually, plus stubs, boots, etc. mount kits are around 45 bucks last time i checked. you can probably stumble across some good deals on here on axles and cv's though. 3 rib is gunna be your best bet for a 1641, thats what i run and it works well, i suggest going to atleast bus on all 4 cv's i broke car outers.

I run a 1641 with a 3 rib and love it. I went through about 6 car trans before i finally broke down and went 3 rib. I gave away all my spare car trans and will never own another one. It was like night and day between the two.

A friend of mine gave me a truck load of them so when I switched to bus I gave the rest of them back. Didn't really want to store them and figured since he gave them to me i would return them and maybe he could get some use out of them. I kept the reverse gears from the ones i blew the spiders out of.

backwoods, you run v-treads right? You think they grab to much for car tranny?

i run cut v treads with mine. and a superdiff in the thing tranny. i like it because its geared like a 6 rib. i think the 3 rib is geared to low.

almost forgot i also run cutout center gears in my bus joints so there is no binding when the axle is flat. shave out some splines on the bus joint so you can use car axles and still get the clip on. thx greg for that one.

Thats what was killing all my spider gears. You can probably run one with v-bars and be ok but i was trying to keep up with all the guys running 1915's and bus trans so I would clutch it like a 2 stroke and could never get a car to last. Once i went to a 3 rib i have not had any problems other than one c.v. Also now i have alot more power on tap because of the lower gears.
