I am using .125 on my new buggy. The old green buggy had 3/16 in it and that was overkill. Lots of "hill shooter" buggies use .100 to cut down on weight. It really depends on how tough you want it to be. I have dents in my floor but no tears.

i got a good deal on 1/8 but going to look furter in to it to see if they got thinner

I wouldn't go any thinner than .125.
