Since I am refilling my tranny after a reverse rebuild. I was thinking of adding a quart of Lucas Transmission oil to it. Is there any benefit or is it over kill? I have added the 2 quarts that I had and need to add another 1 1/2 quarts +or-.

Guess I was looking at the wrong product. I had looked at the Auto trany stuff. Guess I will just add the rest of the gear oil and go ride.

Just run some full synthetic and be done with it. I use and recommend 85w140 full synthetic in every gearbox I build.

Thanks Roy but I have already added 2 quarts of 80/90 gear oil to the tranny. Hate to waste good oil.

better the oil than the tranny lol

i filled a tranny completely up with lucas 80w90 gear oil i believe it was then blew reverse outon the first ride. im sure it was my fault though.

Heavier (85w140) oil will cushion the gears better than lighter oil (80w90), but is also harder to shift when cold and takes a litle more HP to turn. Being synthetic helps this, though. None will keep you from breaking a gear (especially reverse!! lol).

The new reverse gears that I put in are a smaller tooth than what was in it. Wish I could have gotten the same. They seem to have been stronger with the larger teeth.

Weddle sells gears that are made from the same material as their racing gears, (I usually don't tell anyone that) however, no matter how strong the gears are, the idler shaft will crack the case allowing the gears to separate if abused very much at all. This is true i
