Firebug, thanks for the picture. It shows up now. It is going to be a big help.

Is the front sprocket or drive sprocket modified or is it in stock form ? I am trying to figure out how the drive sprocket attaches to the half shafts.

Thanks for any help,

That audi 5000 trans will turn the wrong way unless you have a mid engine setup. The case gets in the way of flipping the differential.

I think that is what Randy used to have in his CD.

I would like to thank everyone for their help. All of the information is going to help out. I am not sure if my buggy is going to be chain drive or not. I need to keep thinking about the set-up. Chain drive is a cool looking set-up.I can see the advanage of it.

My buggy frame is a 4 seater. I want to take more than one extra person with me out on the trails. I was hoping that chain drive would make using an engine and transaxle from a front wheel drive car a good possibility. I know that the half shafts are not the same length on a front wheel drive car ( right side vs left side ). I also understand that you can not change ring and pinion in the transaxle that easy or if you can make a change. That is where I believe the advanage for chain drive would be. You can make final drive changes and have longer travel in your suspension.

Curt, Is it possible be put the drive sprocket on the same trailing arm with the driven sprocket ? Good idea or bad idea ? I would like to use a GM front wheel drivetrain because of availability and cost.

Thanking everyone for their input,
