Your pictures have to be hostetd on another site such as PhotoBucket. Then copy the IMG line and paste it on here to see the picture. There is a full explaination on posting pictures in the FAQ also.

I just upload my pics to photobucket (max image size: 640x480, the different sizes show right above where you browse for your pics in photobuckett) that makes the pics a decent size, not huge, you can even upload a picture in the avatar size to put on here. After you upload them just click on th IMG Code under the pic and paste on here under the New Topic or Post Reply. Hope this helps.
