I found a chain driven rail with a vw bus automatic tranny and v6 motor. The 010 tranny is toasted. It has 38 tires for the rear, p/s system and disk brakes all around. What are the pro/cons of chain drive? I guess you have more rear travel but are these just climbers or can you drive them around town like a normal buggy?

Chain drives have a lot of potential. They allow you to run larger tires to get additional ground clearance without compromising power.

Although they run great in the woods, I would guess it would be extremely difficult to get a chain drive street legal.

Thanks. Been thinking about it and I think I will skip. The cage sits very tall and gives the buggy a funky look. I am sure that someone with a bender can make it more appealing to the eyes. The motor is a 3.1L V6 fuel injected. Its free but it has a busted pulley. It has a lot of potential and the guy is selling it pretty darn cheap. If anyone want me info drop me a line.
