Hello,
I am thinking about buying a buggy but have a few questions.

Most of the buggys I see for sale on craigslist are 1600cc VW engines. Is this this a good engine? Is it powerful enough for most people? I dont need to climb a 70 degree hill at 35mph shooting 50ft rooster tails off the back, but I want it to be pretty quick and fun.

Overall how reliable is a well built buggy? I am coming from a RZR which has never let me down, but I also dont abuse my machines. This is pretty important since I ride at Wellsville and none of my friends are into offroading. So most of the time I have to ride alone, and dont want to get stranded.

Finally when looking at buying a buggy what are the most important things to look for? Anything to avoid red flags etc?

Thanks,

welcome jhay. i can pretty much assure you that you wont ride alone no more. theres alot of people here that ride wellsville.

as far as a buggy goes a 1600 is reliable and fun but not gobs of power. dont buy one with a car trans cause its not going to work. look for a 1915 with a 3 rib you should be happy with it. riding wellsville look for a strong cage aswell. lots of bracing. look for good tires cause tires are not cheap these days.

how much are you wanting too spend? there are several buggies on here for sale. all of them quality.

if you plan to ride alone in a buggy take tools and spare parts lol and I would suggest buying a 1835 or bigger motor with at least a 3rib trans 2x3 arms or bigger turning breaks single or dual webber carbs good solid frame with 103 wheelbase or so look for rust and broken welds

Be careful some used buggies are pure junk . Try to hook up with some one around you on here that can help you look at them before you buy . Or take pics and post them on here before you buy . I love my buggies but they are a tinkering mans toy . !!!!
