Looking to sell my 2.4 Ecotec motor with supercharger, stock wiring harness, and PCM. The motor is complete from valve cover to oil pan minus the exhaust manifold it will even come with the AC compressor, starter, and alternator I might have the exh. mani sitting around somewhere if you need it. The supercharger and intake manifold is the same one that is used on the Cobalt SS supercharged cars it also has a modular pulley system installed with a 2.8" pulley, dual pass intercooler plate, and phenolic intake manifold spacer. The only issue with it is that when I was replacing the dipstick with the new one from the supercharged engine the bottom of the old one broke off and fell in the oil pan so that will need to be removed to get the broken piece out, other than that it was a running motor that I got from a junkyard and I don't know the mileage I think it was around 62,000. This is located in Wyoming, MI and I would prefer local pickup but I can freight ship it if you're willing to pay for it. You can reach me through email at jcardycard@gmail.com

man oh man how I'd love to have this.... after seeing terry Fryers supercharged ecotec in the buggy builds, seems like this would be the ultimate low maintenance big HP motor for the trails

Through a cobalt F35 manual transmission probably about 260whp on gas maybe 270-280whp on E85. Also you would need 60# injectors to run this pulley that is currently on the motor and 80# injectors for E85 use, the motor currently has stock injectors.

So about 350 Crank HP?

probably about 290HP at the crank on gas. Also if it sells for close to my asking price I'll include the alternator stand off, idler pulley, and belt for the supercharger which i dont currently have but is needed to run the SC on the 2.4

Hmm! Typically wheel HP is a minimum of 25% less than Crank HP due to parisitic loss thru drive train. So 350 CHP would be 262.5 WHP.

According to the GM specs this engine produces 265 HP at the crank, it produces 270 ftlbs of torque. Stout considering it matches up with a 3.5 Honda V6 engine. Kind of curious what they weigh. This is a great power option just ask Terry

E85 (85% ethanol, 15%gas) cannot make more power than gasoline unless a motor is specifically designed to run on E85 only - higher compression to take advantage of the slower burn time which is what higher octane is. The BTU energy is just not in ethanol compared to gasoline or Diesel, which is highest. While present automaker technology allows the use of flex fuels it is green weenie motivated and contrary to claims E85 ends up costing more because it takes more ethanol to go the same distance which offsets the lower price. This shift in making fuel from food is being brought to you by the same government which sold you the "Cash for Clunkers Program" which was never about economy stimulus but rather non compliant emission vehicles.

Bubba you're pretty close to correct with your statement about e85 but I think you've failed to realize this motor has a supercharger on it with a very small pulley 2.8 vs the factory 3.5" pulley, furthermore this motor has a higher c/r than the motor originally equipped with the supercharger. No it won't be a gas sipper but yes it will make the power (with the correct fuel system) on e85. This sale was not intended to market this motor as green or fuel efficient so I'm not to sure where that came from but I know for a fact that with the pulley currently on the S/C it will make more power on e85 vs 93 octane pump gasoline both of which are available here in M I at some gas stations, depending on location. The fuel system and tuning would obviously need to be different for each fuel. Ody from what I've been reading the drivetrain loss through newer manual transaxles is generally around 15% and from the dyno tuning we have been doing at my work on these motors with similar setups, 270-280whp is pretty typical on e85 and this is really the smallest pulley you can go with safely.

The push for E85 in this country is for reduced tailpipe emissions, not more horsepower. If the motor as is can run on pump gas it will make more horsepower on gas than ethanol. What I question is the claim that by switching a tankful of fuel to E85 it is going to make more horsepower :?:

It's not just filling the tank with E85, you need tuning and much more fuel to make the power. The reason E85 makes power and we use it in our race cars where I work is that you can raise the boost level and push the ignition timing more since E85 has a higher octane than pump gas, yes it does take more fuel but it DOES make more power with which I have real world experience with.

The realworld question Ody asked was what the rated HP/TQ was of the junkyard motor in the picture, not what the potential of an Ecotec could be. My bullshit meter started ticking when it was stated that E85 was going to make more horsepower than gas on an otherwise stock motor, albeit someone bolted an overdriven pulley on the blower.

I may be wrong but by reducing the size of the pulley on the supercharger you are under-driving it thus reducing boost? The BS meter is starting to max out. I just think it is a pig in a poke you don't know anything about it as far as millage or condition with out it running it could be a boat anchor.

I didn't see Ody asking for factory specs and since the question was asked in a thread with a motor with a supercharger and smaller pulley for sale I figured he was talking about that, not going off on an unrelated story about how E85 fuel is going to ruin the country and is wothless... If you dont want to buy the motor, keep your opinions to yourself and if you dont know any actual facts about E85 in a performance engine please do not clutter the thread with useless rhetoric. If you think I'm trying to mislead people please bring some FACTS that will help people, not wild guesses as to what you THINK E85 is good for. I'm not saying you need to run this fuel or that fuel but I was just stating what I KNOW these engines are capable of with stock internals and forced induction and to be more precise with this blower and pulley that are on the motor. Red a smaller pulley creates more boost due to the drive ratio stock is 3.5" diameter and the new one is 2.8" diameter, for fun lets pretend the crank pulley (the drive pulley) is 6" in diameter so that would make the ratios for the pulleys 1.714 (stock) and 2.142 (2.8 ) so the 2.8 pulley will spin the supercharger 2.142 times for each single rotation of the crank where the stock pulley only spins the supercharger 1.714 times per one rotation of the crank pulley this is what makes the supercharger produce more boost. Also I stated it was a running motor when I bought it with around 62000 miles on it.

To anyone who is interested the price for the setup is O.B.O.

Hard crowd around here. I'm thinking they're just prejudiced against MIchiganders. LOL I'm totally joking. No, but really?
As long as everyone is evaluating your advertisement I'd just like to point out one thing. You come out of the gate making this sound like a turnkey monster and then turn around and say it's just basically a stock motor straight out of a cat with the SC and then there's brackets and pulleys and stuff to worry about not to mention tuning from someone with your "knowledge". Which brings up another point, we don't know who you are. After seven total posts what do you expect. Usually why bigger forums have requirements to post ads.
I think someone does need to correct themselves on the pulley thing though.
But then again who am I??? Image:roll: :shock:Image

Sorry, didn't mean to rub the newb's fur the wrong way, I was just trying to learn something. Correct me, please, but isn't this an LSJ blower off a 2.0, 205hp, 9.5-1cr slapped onto an LNF 2.4,171hp 10.4-1cr? Then hp. claims are completely argumentative based on what the end builder does. Chances are with the blower being overdriven the cylinder pressure is higher than can be used with gasoline so this is an ethanol only engine? Ethanol pumps ain't exactly hanging off the maple trees.

Bubba you're correct this is more geared towards E85 use but we have done some with 93 octane but the tune is very conservative and it usually just a better idea to drop pulley size and get more aggressive with the tuning. Also the this motor is the LE5 the LNF is actually a newer/better direct injection turbocharged version of the ecotec and is a 2.0L (awesome motor). I do have access to other pulley sizes from 3.4" to 2.5" if the buyer has an idea about what they wanted to do with the motor.

No one, especially me is trying to discourage anyone from buying this or any other water cooled engine, I just go by the specs that GM or in my case Honda publishes. I know that a 3.2 Acura V6 with a turbo with 8 LBS of boost will make around 400 horse and makes 265 hp at the crank naturally aspirated. I think as I stated before it is a good starting place the supercharger and intercooler setup are probably worth the 1500.00 by themselves.

I will not touch the E85 discussion as I run 100% gasoline with no ethanol by choice! Love the modern engine just have to stick to the facts. glad to hear it ran and the approximate milage.
