I have a 1600 eng and I have a new cole and fule pump and spark plugs and we are getting power to the cole but not to the points or nothing like that if y'all can please help me out

Do you have the wire from the dist hooked to the negative side of the coil ?

Read the post "Quick Help" under the AIRCOOLED forum. A few weeks ago he had 2 pages of pain and it turned out to be a bad dist right out of the box. Either the lobes or shaft bushings or bent shaft or something was bad.

take a pic with cap and rotor off the dist, and how its wired to the coil so we can make sure it all wired right

are you sure the points are set correct?

sounds like its wired up wrong or either the points need to be set, if all that checks out it has to be a faulty part somewhere even if they are all new

thanks to everyone it was the distributor on it we swip it out and it fired right up
