Not yet. I have a feeling that my front springs are to stiff and the back to soft. Starting to sound like Goldylocks . Anyway I figure on running at the Cold Spot next weekend and see how it feels. Go from there.
Dean
The rear to soft really won't hurt you but the front too stiff will not be a good thing. Good way to flip you over backwards. Let us know how it acts when you get it out on the trails.

Good idea! Like grease around the edge of the cap where it sits on the distributor, or some spray silicone inside the cap itself?
Silicone grease around the edge of the cap. Also known as tune up grease or dielectric grease. Also a must for around the plug wire boots where they go on the cap and the spark plugs.

R
I use it on the boots, never thought about around the base of the cap. DUH! The best idea

Please take it out for a test drive BEFORE you install the MSD. That way you will be able to actually "feel" the difference it made in the performance of your motor. You will wonder why you didn't do it years ago.

I am looking forward to the same improvement REAL soon when I install my EFI system. I can't wait to feel the difference.

what is this msd ignition running money wise? where can i pick one up at, ive already spent a trillion dollars building my 1641 (yeah you can spend a couple grand on a 1641 pretty easy haha), so i might as well spend more if it makes this big of a difference. my ignition is in need of a tune-up anyways...

The 6AL box is usually a little over $200. You can use it alone and notice a difference.

But to get the full benefit, run it with an MSD dizzy and a set of MSD wires.

You'll have a little over $600 in it all, but chances are you won't have any ignition problems again.
Sometimes you can get a better deal on the 6AL from Summit or Jegs. There are also other boxes with advanced featues that you might be interested in , too.

Even a basic coil upgrade makes a HUGE difference. Get rid of the Bosch coil (JUNK) and install an MSD coil and a good set of wires. Do away with th

I allready have the MSD coil. I bought it at Summit 3 tears ago. I installed it then hit the ignition. A new electronic ignition went up in smoke. Dave "Shadetree" told me to save it till I got MSD.

Anybody know how to wire a MSD 6AL to a pertonix ignitor? A buddy of mine is buying a box and a coil, but doesnt really want to lay down the coin for a MSD billet distributor. I've seen the diagram in an older MSD wiring instructions, but the box I bought about a year ago doesnt show that particuliar application. I remember it was on the last page of the wiring diagrams that come with a box, just dont remember how it said to do it!

Tim at Southern-buggies just finished building him a 2387 with 5.7" rods, too. Going from a 1915 to an MSD lit stroker, think he'll notice the difference? He'll probably notice it when he's on his lid from using too much loud pedal!

You have to run a ballast resistor with them. This could be why you fried the electronic module? Don't know.

Basically it atomizes the fuel instead of just dumping it in the carb. Huge power for the money. Go to cbperformance.com and type weber update in the search. It's $134.00 for both carbs.

Will those kits work with the Empi HMPX's.I bought a new set of 44's for the motor i'm building now.My old motor has Weber 40's on it,but ther to small for my new motor. The Empi's are $200 cheaper and the Brian at Drews said that you can use Weber jets and rebuild kits on them.

I think the EMPI is a pertty close copy of the Weber but I do not know if the Weber update kits will work in them.
I have not heard good things about the EMPI carbs. Lots of disappointed folks out there right now.

I had heard bad things about them, too. But, Tim said he has sold about ten sets, and only had one carb to turn out bad. They returned it used to EMPI and they sent out a replacement, no questions asked. Took about three weeks, though.
I find it hard to beat a good set of Dellortos, though. I have a set of weber 44's on my 12.5:1 2387, bought brand new, installed jet doctors, put in some 26 (I think) vents and rejetted a little. They work very well, but the "off the gas and right back on" responiveness is still not equal to the 40 dellortos I tuned for my buddies 1915 buggy. Got some dells for mine, but havent had the chance to put them on and tune 'em. Maybe with the upgrade kit, the webers can be equal. Dont know , never even seen them before. I heard of a guy in London that bought a CB Perf. fuel inj. set up, and took it back off because it wasnt as crisp as his dell's were! Maybe he didnt tune it right , but everything else he does is done right, no budget, spends whatever it takes. I imagine he'd find someone to do it right.

Do a search on dune-buggy.com about the Empi's, there's a link somewhere there, I think, that has some pretty bad news about them I remember reading a couple of months ago. A buddy of mine bought some and we never could get them running right at all. THen, last year at Lansing he found a set of brand new Dellorto 40's still in the box, bolted them on and ran perfect!

Just my 2 cents,
Blake

I couldn't find that topic on dune-buggy.com but what your saying is i should return my empi 44's before i use them and buy something else.I have always run weber 40's on my 2054 with no problems, but i bought those empi 44's for my new 2387.How much are the dellorto 44's and where can i buy some?I don't think Drews sell dellortos.I will need to get a set soon cause i just got my motor together except for the rocker arms and it's almost time to ride.
