Sounds like an Internal plug came out. Fairly common on Delljunkos, er I mean Dellortos. lol

I have always been told to stay away from them since I started with my rail. Webers are the only thing I have been told that will hold up over time. Sure they have their quirks at times but not as bad as Dells.
Just like Dell computers cheap.

my dells are as close to perfect as you can get both sets you keep your air filters clean set them right then they are right and by clean I mean CLEAN my interpretation of clean and others is different if you can't take the air cleaners off and eat off the inside of the carb it's dirty

I have dual dell 40s and I think they are great.....I have dual Webers as well I can't tell much difference myself. There is good and bad in everything.

The Dellorto carburetor is a much better carburetor in design.
