Saco? Wright? Howe? I am thinking of using a Char-Lynn torque generator and was wondering the best rack to use with it.

I would agree. Mine is on it's 3ed year with no drastic wear and I'm not easy on parts.

Just remove lagest rage and put s-10 box in. I will never use a rack likr that again. the gm box is so easy to steer compaired to rack. I think it would be fine in the sand but not in woods. By the way the rack is forsale.

Howe is top shelf stuff and you will pay the price. Saco is fine and a very good value for the money. If using a torque generator you may want to see if you can order a rack with a hardened gear rack in it. Some companies offer those. I know Howe and Wright do offer them. Your buggy is light enough that just about anything will work fine.

Thx for the info guys.. I do not have any trouble with the grand am rack now, but if I do have problems, I am going to switch it out. A friend of mine is going to the generator setup and I will see how it goes..

How well does the torque generator work? With the engine off, how hard is it to steer? I have also read that on the highway it is somewhat darty? I don't ride on the highway much, but occasionally.

Eric, I have been calling around for this kind of setup, I already have a Saco rack on it now, and would like to upgrade it to power steering by using the Charlynn torque generator. Those on the west coast that rides in the sand dunes use this setup, and they say it is flawless and works very well, even they jump dunes 30-40 foot in the air and lands, zero bumpsteer!

I just bought a new Saco for the chain drive im building. I got the rack and got it shipped to my house for around 300 dollars. The model number is 64 1000 5 8. It is all billet aluminum and is set up to run 5/8 heim joints. Most of the people I ride with use them and I have never seen one broke.

Baddvw, Moores parts carries the Charlyn for a fair price. Im curioue what it is you meant by with this set up you dont have bump steer. Bump steer has nothing do do with weather or not you have power steering or what you use for steering. Bump steer is the amount of Toe In and Toe out you have thru the full supension travel. Its about steering box or rack relationship in mounting to the wheel spindels.

Hate to be the cheap guy here but I have the Latest Rage rack. I certianly am not easy on front ends. It's 6 years old and showing no signs of wear. I get very little bump steer if any. I wish it had a better turning radius but I get around just fine. I have never driven a buggy with power steering but I have never felt the need for it.

dean eric and phil had the same rack u have and they took the bottom plate off and ground the spacing about a half in. on both sides give them alot more radius.

I think the arms should be moved to the head of that list. Just kidding. As far as a rack goes I think the Latest Rage is much better than a VW box. and the Wright and Saco are much better than the Latest Rage. If money is tight get the Latest Rage.
