acetone or lacquer thinner --- many others out there ---what ever you use it must dry quickly--- that way it want leave an oily residue----most thinners are made from petroleum [gas]----hinse the residue left causing paint to fisheye and not stick.

I use (napa brake cleaner) the cheap stuff leaves residue.
