As some of you know I fell on some hard times last year. I lost my job. Had the same job for 18 years and they laid me off without warning. In order to keep things moving and restructure my finances, I sold my buggy and some other toys so I could pay off some bills. After struggling for a year I have managed to get back into a good buggy again. I actually owned this buggy 10 years ago and sold it to a good friend. I recently bought it back and it's now back in my garage. I am happy to have it back. I worked on this buggy with my friend for the past 10 years so all the upgrades were done by me anyhow. Funny how things work out sometimes. This buggy came out of KY. about 10 years ago. Still going strong.

If anyone is wondering, here are the general specs:

1915 with dual 44 webers.
110 cam
9.5-1 CR pump gas
5 rib transaxle
2x3 arms with type 4 CV's
2 1/2 x 1 front arms
Rack & Pinion w/heim joint steering
4 wheel disc brakes
4 ply stones on homemade beadlocks
modified 3 rib front tires

Sorry to hear about your hard times. I know that I am not the only one who has had hard times, but I sure appreciate what I have now and would not have made it through the bad times without the great friends and family that I have. Hope to see you on the trails.

That's awesome Roy. I wondered why we didn't see many posts from you. I remember the Harley you picked up and some other toys but didn't know you lost your job. Times are tough everywhere. I've considered selling the buggy on more than one occasion when business got slow. This was the worst year I've had in 16 years of being in business. Weather was awful for us. Glad to see things stabilized a bit and the buggy looks good and solid.

I am planning Wellsville sometime in the spring of 2013. Not a holiday weekend. Waiting for MadMike to get his done. I found him a motor for his buggy last week so there is no excuses. HA HA If all goes well, I'm shooting for a trip up there in June of next year.

I wouldn't need to look for a VW motor. I remember where I dumped the last one I had, although it might have some water damage from holding that boat dock in place.
Roy found me a 2009 Subaru 2.5L SOHC with 15,000 miles on it, damn thing isn't even broke in yet. I should have it by the end of next week.

My luck seems to be just fine on this. 170 hp in a 1400# car = 8.25 lbs per hp. Complete motor, wiring harness, computer and throttle pedal for $1600 shipped to my door.

To build a 170 HP VW motor it would be 3 times that money. Man that was a deal!!!!

I spent yesterday moving the petals forward a couple inches. It was cramped for me to drive. Spending today changing the oil, welding a foot rest in for my left foot, installing a new clutch cable, valve adjustment and grease job. Getting it ready for my annual Turkey Run at the Egg Farm. Can't wait to go play with it!!

Yeah, the red wheels and red front end parts will be different for sure. I can't stand red! Might even do this before the Thanksgiving ride. 8)

Today I installed knife edges on the tips of my tree bars. The gap was too large between the tree bars and the tires. Now I'm good to go. My property in the mountains is where this buggy will get used the most and there are gobs of trees we ride between. Tree kickers get used a lot up there.
