I just purchased a buggy 1835 with about 100 hrs, my head temp seems to be around 300, is this normal?

Depending on how your driving it and how you are taking your temp measuments,300 degrees is pretty acceptable for head temp.

I took the buggy out yesterday, after climbing about a 2 mile uphill grade at about 4% 85 degrees outside, my temp goes to 340, not running hard about 2500 rpm in third gear. I was thinking it was 300 degrees however I was wrong it was 340 degrees, im running 10-30 oil and was going to change to 40 or 20-50, would this help?

How much timeing do you have at 2500 to 3000 rpms? 29 to 32de at 2500 to 3000 . What gas are you runing ? 93 or race gas my help . A little bigger carb jet can help Idle&main. Cheek fan & tins. It is a air cooled eng. Head & oil temps will be HI . Heavyer oil will help pressure win hot but not much for heat but try it. and let us no.

32 degees at 3k, it sounds like an occassional 340 degree is not that unusual?, I have mixed half 5/30 and half 30 oil, I'm guess I should go with a 10/30 synthetic oil. I have the original dog house with nothing below the heads.

Are you running a power pulley? At that low of a RPM the fan really isn't turning fast enough to cool the heads when under a load.If your oil pressure is good I recommend staying away from the thicker oil,It will make the engine run even hotter because more oil will bypass the oil cooler.

A power pulley is smaller in diameter than a standard pulley. It will be a little over 6 inches across.
