If you are starting from scratch and want to build a stroker the cranks all pretty much cost the same. A 2276cc is a great combo and will be less work in the long run to get setup if you run a 5.400" rod and use stroker pistons. A good stock case will be fine for a build like this.

As for cases, there has been some controversy but I like my Magnesium case from CB performance. Some say they are not strong (when hit with a hammer).. However, I have found they do not get as hot and they do not expand as much with they get hot.

Another personal opinion.. You get what you pay for.. I stronger advise against buying EMPI kits..

BOTH ! The cost of cranks are pretty much all the same when you start talking longer strokes.

Read the article in the latest Hot VW's magazine about running Toyota V-6 pistons in a VW engine. Sounds WAY promising as an alternative.

I read that also, the only down fall I saw to it was the limited RPM...only about 6500 according to them

I agree the 2276 will b by far the easiest to build. Use a stock dual relief case. As far as the AA pistons I can't say there junk but I have broke 2 of them. 1 in a 1915 13:1 comp. 40* timing cranking it 7000rpm dirt track racing and the other in a 2276 (blower motor) 12:1 comp with 10# of boost it split 3 cyl and busted 1 piston  They did live at 10:1 with 10# of boost. Detonation was the killer of both pistons.

Go with the 82 stroke if you got B Stroker pistons. If you don't got Stroker pistons use a 76 stroke crank and shim the cyls. I would set compression at no less then 9.5:1 on pump gas. E85 or race gas 12:1

not to hijack but you can have that E gas shit from my experience, a buddy bought some E110 to put in his so we drained the 93 and put in that E crap and the more he ran it the worse it got and idle jets started getting plugged up, so we drained the E and put regular 110 in and you could hear the difference in it running as the E fuel left in the carb bowls burnt out was replaced with the reg 110

E85 requires about 30% bigger main jet And the flow must be increased though out the fuel curve. So a carb tuned for 93 won't run E85 at all. E85 is 85% Ethanol and 15%Reguler 87 octane gas.

what he had was E110 but the "regular" 110 ran fine
