What is the bennifit to dual carbs versus a larger 2 or 4 barrel? Just curious, seems like more things to get adjusted and synced to run right, and more areas to get clogged. Figure there has to be some good up sides to justify the down sides.

One plus is no need for Carb heaters. Shorter intake runners makes more low end horsepower.

More fuel= more power , you get quicker throttle response from less distance fuel has to travel. Biggest difference is the ability to dial each cylinder in to exactly what it wants/needs . Yes they can be a pain at times. But not enough that Ill ever switch back.

More air to but i would only suggest putting duals on a 1835 and up or you might wash your rings out IMP

you can put duals on any size motor...you just have to use smaller carbs

I am with you Nitro.. Do you really need a port for each cylinder? Only one fires at a time. Do not get me wrong, I agree with the shorter distance and the fine tuning but is it worth the headache? I run a 2276 with a single card and it runs great.

Although, there is one area that dual carbs do help.. When I am going up a long hill, I cannot just hold the trottle wide open, I will run out of gas. I need to pump the throttle as I go..

I also run a stock fuel pump

I run the stock style pump with my duals. Once you get them dialed in its simple. Just kinda start a regular cleaning habit. I tear mine down, check float levels and clean like every 2-3rides. Sure sometimes they throw a fit, But the good out weighs the bad big time. My 1915 turned into an entirely different motor after the duals. They threw a fit at the hillclimb a few weeks ago, tinkered with them today Turned out the pump jet /squirter had come loose, and was shooting gas all over lol. My fault for sure. But if you go duals, just have to learn to have some patience with them .

I ran dual carbs on my VW motors and felt they were not worth the PITA to keep them running. You will find that most desert racers run a single 44 Weber and get the best results. You have less fuel flooding etc with the car bouncing around with the Carb in the center of the Buggy. One less Crab to clean the Idel jets etc.

My sulotion was 2.5 EFI, enough said!

Going from a single 44 to dual 44's made it feel like my motor woke up. I haven't cleaned my dual 44idf jets in 2 years. Put a good filter on and problems solved. I do just trail ride though.

I guess from time to time you just need to roll them over to clean the jets out, lmao. Chad

Well figured I'd get more reasons then I knew about. So basicly it is just because the heads are to far apart and you have to spend more money to get them to peak performance, got it!

Jayrod, you are asking for problems taking them apart all the time. Honestly, don't even mess with your filters, run some prefilters, jet doctors, and don't touch them. The only thing I ever clean is my foam prefilters, and rarely ever clean my idle jets. The more you take shit apart, the more likely it is to come loose or shake up dirt. Probably a good idea to just put brand new filters in every year, but mine are on their third season, and they were already used. I used to clean them, and I had nothing but trouble, now that I don't touch anything, my motor runs top notch. I'm not just being lazy, this is a secret from the South....

I have been thinking of going to the CB Performance Dual IDF 44's. Currently I have a single center mount IDF 40 on my 1915. Do you think the Dual 44's would be too much or should I go with Dual 40's?

Thanks

Jet doctors,eh not for me. . I clean the filters regularly , always have on everything i ride , and will continue to tear my carbs down and clean every few rides. As I always have. Leaving it alone is fine for some, but Id rather know my stuff is clean inside, and adjusted right. As simple as they are its not a big deal. Now if your not much good with carbs, well by all means stay out of them til you have too. To each his own. :D

If you are going to biuld a big eng down the road go the 44 they will run fin on a 1915. But 40 is all you need on a 1915. Talk to some of the sponsors.
