3 drinks flywheel came loose at the begining of season,wallered out dowel pin holes,but only had 4 in it to begin with.......i put new pins,lockwasher and gland nut on it, lock tighted the dogpiss out of it and it has made it through the last season and is still running. im sure it tore up some bearing and shit but you have to love the aircooleds!it just wont die

Ive seen it several times, Always busts the center out of the crank pulley and loosens the dowel pins in the crank. Ive never seen one hold up with out being wedge mated after that, they always come off again and ruin the crank, and flywheel and have seen them ruin a tranny.

There has to be something else going on for this to happen. Dowel pins don't just shear off. Needs to check that the pins aren't too long and also that the gland nut isn't bottoming out in the crank. And TORQUE IT DOWN ! Using an impact is not the proper way and stock spec is nowhere near enough torque.

Scat nut is 350#

well his motor is pushing POWER alot of it but they will get it wedge mated and be good

I must admit I love the sound of a AC sawing. Jeff said they were going to use 3/8 pins to fix it.I think the dowels are too long.

i gree with the dowel pins too long or something of that nature , i've seen the jelly buggies turning crazy horsepower for years , & the hills they climb in those mountains of ky. are long as hell & rough , they wind the hell out of those motors all way up a 3 stage hill that they disappear on & only the sound is there & i'm tellin you jesse , it do'nt matter how much horsepower you got if you're shit is right , it will hold up under stress , now i'm not knocking the guy cause i dont know him , but people make mistakes so everyone on this thread is just trying to help out , but it lies with the engine builder or defective parts , its like kevin f. said it wont last long if its not right & half assing won't get it !!

Its not the power, harmonics is usually the cause of this. If the motor is out of balance in the least bit at the rpms cassidy is turning its gunna happen. Almost every stroker I build I have the entire rotating assembly spin balanced, the i weigh each piston and rod and get them all the same weight. Every motor ive delt with that threw the flywheel was out of balance. I weighed the rods and just them alone was enough to cause it let alone the pistons to. If he dont tear the motor down and have it balanced it will happen again.

Better have the crank checked for cracks as well. I have personally put over 400 HP through a NON wedgemated crank/flywheel set up without problems. I am completely certain they will find something wrong with a very close inspection.

AS for it being power, well, my type 1 200mm is holding up just fine under 270bhp and 10,000rpms...
