 Post subject: compression ratio 1641

How do i change the compression ratio on my single port 1641 i will be running this turbo T3/T4 4 BOLT T04E A/R.63 WET FLOAT BEARING TURBOCHARGER+8 PSI INTERNAL WASTEGATE with a bov and manual adjustable boost controller what compression ratio do i want to be at

You change the compression ratio by adding shims in between the jugs and the block. More shim, less compression.

I think with a turbo motor, 9 to 1 or so?

thanks for the info are there different size shims. what is the compression of a stock 1641 single port

Yes there are different size shims, I think 0.015 and 0.030 at a minimum.

No clue on the stock compression, probably 8 to 1 or so?

To know your compression ratio you need to know what the deck height is and what cc the combustion chambers in the heads are. If your heads are uncut I would guess that your compression would MAYBE be 7.5:1. You could get away with a little more than that as long as it was tuned good and the timing was kept in check. Good fuel is a must as well. Also that is a pretty big turbo for a little bitty 1641,you will really need to wring its guts out to get it to make boost.

1.6 L is 1600cc . Find a turbo off a car around 1.6L . call Bill Westerfield 513-367-2835 HE built some stock 1600 with stock turbos 20 year ago.

Seen a few guys run the turbos off the mistubishi eclipse,and the little dodge motors on 1641's.don't know how well they made power but seen them running them.Chad :mrgreen:
