If it was avalable when i was looking at buying my Commander there would be a different machine in the Toy stable.

well i went with a friend of mine to dealer to buy a prowler and the salesman was so good we almost took 2 of them home, but im glad i didnt his had to go back to shop twice under waranty for the clutch and then a broke shaft in the tranny, then after that the oil pump went out and pretty much messed upthe whole motor and we took it to 2 dealers with no luck and he had to build it hisself, he dont even abuse it all it is used for is go back and forth to his chicken houses and over in the field to check on the cows

Understand what your saying steve . I personally am not a fan of Polaris just from my experience with them I have a sportsman 700 that I use for around the house work and fire wood getting and plowing , occasionally I with take it to my dads property for camping a couple times a year . Every time I use it I'm finding something wrong , tie rods , u joints are the most common . I would hope the new machines have been better made but they left a bad taste in my mouth ! I feel the yamaha rhino is what I'm in the market for next year because of the bed and capability to do a little trail riding without major issues . Most common problem on them is brakes pads wearing fast and wheel bearings .

They make lemons in every brand.my buddy bought a new rzr,6 hrs on it and front end locked up,spent a month in the shop, got home made it 14 miles and the rear bearings seized in it.took it back and spent another month at the shop.got home never made it a day and same thing happened to bearings again.3 payments and less than 100 miles on it,he raised enough he'll,they gave him another one,put 700 miles on it and trans went out,got fixed and sold it.like anything else never get something built on Monday's or Fridays and never get surgery on these days either lol.Chad

Well like Gasman stated all the manufactures have issues with them. I have had my share of issues with my Commander that needed to be fixed starting with replacing the entire frame due to the robot welder installing the top "A" arm mounts in the wrong location. The Steering rack was replaced and the frame broke at that location, Complete rear differential replacement after they replaced the bearings and seals, Rear drive drive shaft replacement, front diff seals, front drivers side CV replacement, front "A" arm bushings. I currently have 800 miles on the machine. Fortunatly my dealer has been great to work with and has went out of their way to get everything covered under warranty. I usely do not believe in extended warranty however I highly reccommend them on the SxSs. They will pay for themselves over and over. My repairs came to $6800.00 and all covered.

i agree they all can have a lemon and yes he got the extended warranty and they they tried to say he caused the oil pump gears to strip out, the 2nd dealer had it for almost a year trying to get it fixed but the factory just wouldnt go fo it under warranty, but what got me is that he had all that trouble and other than when it rained and the cow pasteur got a little muddy he could have gotten away with using a golf cart

they have a history of being junk , a friend of mine who owns a boat & atv (sylacauga marine & motor sports ) dealership , will not even take them on trade ins anymore because of the difficulty of dealing with the factory & said they are poor quality compared to polaris , ( which is the brand he sells ) he's not against them for the fact he does not sell them , i've seen several rhino's & terex sxs's on his lot used , my friend had a 4 wheeler also & had a lot of issues with it everytime he rode it , he is rough on stuff but his previous 4 wheeler held up fine except occasional tire & bent rim problems ( had it for almost three years ) , so i say rhino or razor is your best bet !!
the front bars of the roll cage look to be layed down to much to take a big impact & hold up to me , doesn't look as strong as the sxs sitting beside it , it may be the way i'm looking at it though !! :?
looking at the spec list that plumberbill posted , sounds like trouble waiting to happen , if you drive it like you stole it & if i owned one , thats exactly what i'd do , as with any thing else i own , no use in having something you can't enjoy !! imo.
which they could have solved several of the recurring problems withthis new design , but i still would'nt want to be in it , on a bad roll , due to the way the roll cage is bent !!
its pretty but pretty wont get u there !!

get sintered copper heavy duty brake pads and you wont have any trouble, thats what i run on my grizzly 700, and they are cheap on ebay

considering i have never owned one my opinion is based on others experience. i started the thread so that i could get a bit more educated regarding side by sides.

in my honest opinion , i think its probably the best looking sxs on the market , i really like the stance & style , but without hearing from several people who own them & ride them pretty hard & on a regular basis , i would be reluctant to purchase one , even if you have a great warranty , there could be a lot of down time ( in the shop ) if what feedback i've heard of recent models is mostly true , even if you don't have to pay to get it fixed , theres the hardship of getting it out of the woods & not trusting it or being able to ride when you desire , you know what rhino's & razors are capable of as for dependability & ruggedness !!! just a thought , i've not had a personnel expierence with none of'em , so i'm going on hear say , but its from credilble people !!! :?

I like the rzr line up, I've had 2 rzrs so far and I like the 900xp. Hp rating is bout the same as the other 1000cc motors but I like the stance of that arctic cat. Just be prepared to be bashed if you get it and dont expect to be able to play with the other guys you thought were your freinds. Goodluck with your desision. At least we can go to hatfield and other places if you get it.

Bill I would suggest going to SxS sites to get educated on them. There are not enough SxS owners here to be of much help.

Try this one:
