As stated above:

Homemade Jack-stands
Well i have a metal shop class in school and its a free period to do what ever i want and make what ever i want. Though of making some jack-stands. Found these online:
I was thinking 12 inches tall, making the inside 10 inches long(because at the bottom the 5/8inch bar will be 2 inches up, thus preventing me from putting the inside there.) I was thinking that since, (for safety) i need to have 2inches of the inside, inside the outer part. So 12+10=22 22-2=20 The maximum height would be 20 inches tall and the minimum would be 12ish inches.
I would have the bolt hole where it is in the picture, and would use nice hardened bolts (grade

. Where the max pressure would be i would turn it on the lathe and cut the threads out on that specific part to make it smooth where the pressure would be.
I would use the same 60 degree angle on the supports on the sides.
For the bottom im thinking about taking 2 5/8 round stock and welding them on the supports straight across in the X fashion for added support and strength.
Not really sure what to put around the inside 2inch tubing.
I hate how the guy has his little U joints going on at the top where it comes in contact with the vehicle. First im going to use the metal (that goes around the core) and weld it to the core (like the guy did in the pic). I'm going to take 1/4 inch steel and weld it to the top of the inside 2inch square core. The first level will be 2x2, next will be 3x3 and the third will be 4x4. They will be welded together and provide added strength. and will look like a like steps.
I plan on making 4 of these
They will be used for pretty much the buggy only (when i get one)LOL, though they could prolly hold more
Give me your input
