I like the comps,,,,great way to meet people,,,one of the best I remember was Curts at Bittercreek, it was at least 48 hours of show and shine,,,moon that is,,,Rock telling stories that would rival Jerry Clower. And more buggys than you could shake a stick at. good times,,,,hey,,,how bout a reunion?

Sorry I thought I had reviewed all the facts. Fact 1 we lost CDR Fact 2 we lost most of the KY guys.Fact 3 I have in 25 years of riding [not 2 or 3 ] have never saw such division in the woods. And I have also raced about my whole adult life and some of the worst fights II have ever saw were track side at the dirt track so I don't know where you raced. And why pit a man with money and plenty of car against some feller that don't have all that hmmmmm... kick um when there down.

we had a guy at the drag track where we were all entering to race say "why don't we up the entry fee so the payout is bigger.Mean while he is sitting there with a blown small block and we all had nothing.Just some backyard built shit. This made it no fun for anyone but him

Rock, I agree with what you said in reference to the built machines, etc., etc., BUT, it is each one's OWN CHOICE to show up to the events and compete. If they like it, go and have fun, if you don't like it, go and not compete or don't go at all. Not taking sides or starting an argument, but my opinion. I had a hoot with you guys up at Wellsville, and to me, that is what buggying is ALLLLLL about, I wouldn't trade my times at Wellsville for ANYTHING, but at the same time, I try to travel to one or two comps a year just to see friends that I never get to see. I could care less about the points or anything like that. I compete just for the f*ck of it because I am there, and I have no expectations of winning or losing, just having fun. Wish everyone could see it that way. Let's face the fact, buggy hillclimbing will never be at the level of professional rockcrawling, drag racing, etc., so let's stop making it seem like it is. There may be a few that go out there that want nothing but to compete and win, and that's great, but i feel comfortable saying that for most of us, it is just about fun. It's sad that people's competetive side has ruined the fun in it all for so many!!!

Bash on Brothers!

Rock, you missed a key point in what Neal said, being comp is great among friends. Dirt tracks are notorious for rivals, and assholes. I raced with Neal, hell he is the one that got me started in dirt track racing and buggies. I don't think we will be having any issues with someone running over someone else intentionally during a hill climb, and that is what starts the fights at the tracks. You race a clock, so its hard to get mad at anybody but yourself if you don't do well. So it being compared to a dirt track isn't realistic in my opinion.

Pitting the man with money against one without, well, that is where the rules need to be revamped. Suggestions have been made to help fix this issue.

And besides, there is a difference, I think, between competition and a friendly competition. And as others have mentioned, the hill climbs are alot more than comps, they are also gatherings. And so far I've never witnessed a fight. I have, however, witnessed on several occasions, people I don't know offering help and parts with no expectations of anything in return. Perfect example, I busted a tire at Chocolocca. A guy I didn't know until that day said we could pull one off his buggy. I was reluctant, I don't like borrowing stuff that I know there is a chance could get tore up. He very clearly said, "If it gets broke, it gets broke. You won't owe me anything." So I ended up with his tire and rim, and got to finsih competing. Now how many events / gatherings have people like this? I can't think of any but the hillclimbs. I don't think I could count on both hands the different people either, its not just one here and there.

Just my opinions.

No good deed goes unpunished,,,but I still need to be as helpful as possible,,,I am way more blessed than I deserve.. Helpfullness is it's own reward. This site has done way more good than bad and the events are way more productive than not. Site activity is slow in some parts due to work is picking up and people are busy,,,but I have not seen so many new comers chiming in in a long time. I am still hopeful for a reunion.

Guys that is kinda what I am saying. Every time we rode we had a bragging rights hill climb but that was all it was if some one broke we all fixed it but we didn't take each others money because one had more to begin with. That is all I am saying.Seems like we used to all talk with out it always being a argument. But now not so much.I will say I miss alot of you!

I do believe your wife would say no, you are not always right. In fact, I bet that she would say she is the one that is always right. If you don't believe me, ask her. And if she tells you anything different, shes just doing so to make you feel better about yourself.

I missed the few good folks that I met at the previous hillclimbs, I always had fun there, but it all changed in AL at the first hillclimb this year due to someone messing with Pipedope's buggy, I am not pointing fingers at anyone, I was just upset that he and I worked on our buggies for a few evenings straight and planned on a 9 hour trip to come to AL to start off the new year for the comp. and someone decided to jack with his throttle linkage, I mean it was a mile off, I did everything I could to help him get it running right while he was at the starting line waiting his turn, if there are going to be jealous people in the crowd or does not want an Ohio buggy driver to win, they will do what it takes to slow us down, I have no excuses on why I cannot do well, I hit trees half the time and got a hell of a good running buggy. I am currently building a new buggy to improve my skills as a buggy driver and hopefully hit way less trees (hopefully none)

for those of you that have been fortunate enough to come to wellsville, you will agree, there is NO PLACE on earth like it, and we have the GREATEST group of guys up here to ride with. I wish you could all experience it just once, because you would NEVER forget it!
