This could of been put in ac or wc. I see on buggy builds that a couple of people are running propane. Just curious as to whats involved in converting to propane,aprox cost and how happy are you with it if you run it?

Ran it on my old jeep and worked good , well good enough to drive upside down ! If that makes sence .

Yes its pressurized and will flow fine at an angle, upside down included.

go to gotpropane.com. they sell conversion kits for anything from mowers to big block v8's. i thinj they have vw specific kits. saw you got an ecotech so that dont help but they wanted 1200 for a kit for a tbi 350 chevy. pretty sure they can build one for the eco if they dont already have one.

I have a blown 2276 making 10# of boost at 10:1 cr I can run all day on 3/4 tank of propane. It costs me about $25 to fill a 30# tank here near charleston.

700-850 for vw. single carb and 4 barrel setups. fuel is 100-110 octane. impossible to flood a plug and no fuel pump as it is already pressurized

You can get a CA200M carb for$74 and a model E reg. for $135 get hose and tank local fab a intake and your in!

Anyway I am in the process of converting my buggy to propane... I am starting with a ca125 carb and a mod J reg. along with some small associated parts, the reason I am starting with these is I wanted to start small (1600) then put my bus 2ltr in. I was able to get those pieces from a scrap yard that had a propane forklift, $100 plus $60 rebuild kit, all I need now is some hoses, oh and I got an aluminum already filled 30# tank from a junk yard for $25,(he thought it was empty )
From the same junk yard I got a t25 turbo from a mitsu eclipse for $100, now to complete that I need an exhaust to which I plan on using a Bugpack offroad exhaust.
I did a lot of research and found a good page with tons of info, it even tells you how to pick a propane carb and calculate the cfm. (with and without turbo) www.propanecarbs.com

I am going in now to rebuild the reg and carb....

The CA200 works fine naturally aspirated or turbo charged its good for 200hp NA and and well over 200 blow threw with a model E reg. A much larger CA425 could b used with the model E for up to 400hp
