I have a 36 drla Dellorto carb on my buggy right now... I wanted to put dual dell 40's on there but I dont think i can fit duals without frame modification  ... So I was wondering if going with a bigger single carb say maybe a 40 or 45 would benefit me any? If so, What kind of difference would it make?
Thanks!

I run a single 40 weber on my buggy right now and i love it. And yes i think you would see a difference power wise.

Switching to a larger Dellorto or Weber IDF would help as would using a larger diameter intake (There a few different diameter steel intakes out there) and modify your intake ends to like the Fat Performance one. At some point the small hole in the aluminum ends restricts the flow. You might want top pull the oil pump to see what cam you have and one intake to see if the heads are ported.

Does it run good now with the 36 . I dont see it makeing much more power for the $$$ it will cost.to by a single 40 or 45 . I would save my $$$$$ and by duals.

It runs good in low gears.. 1st & 2nd.. but tends to wanna cut out in 3rd unless i really get on it (level ground).. this may be a timing issue as much as it is carb i dont know.. but it also hesitates when climbing steep hills in low gear.. I was planning on buying duals but if they wont fit just sticking with a single 40 untill i can do some reconfiguring.. just curious of how much of difference it would make... now im curious of how much of a difference duals will make??

you wont see much difference when going to a bigger single but doing duals makes a huge difference but if you dont wanna do frame mods i would keep what you got and figure out your cutting out problem on hills cause unless you never plan to go to duals its not worth buying another single for the small difference

I agree about the duals making the most power, but you still should be able to get the single working decent. Cutting out in third on flat ground might be not enough advance or being a bit lean. Unless you have raised your bowl vent you might be flooding out a bit when climbing rough hills especially with less than 1/3 throttle. My bowl vent is a good 6-8 " higher than the top of the fuel level. Have you taken plug readings at various rpms to see if your running too lean or to rich. One advantage a Weber carb(s) have over the Dell (s) is you can get an off road kit to help with flooding.

if thats the buggy i think it is duals will fit just fine, it had a set of dual 48 ida's on a 1776 when it was fresh out of california and when a buddy of mine bought it he put a 2332 with dual 44 idf's on it,,,,, with the right engine, tranny, and tires that buggy will hook and book leaving a lot of 2 seaters behind

Check the acc pump and/or idle jets.

Is that not the key ingredients for all buggys?? LoL  Yes I believe it is the buggy you are thinking about.. I actually still have the flamed out panels.. I was told back in its day it use to use 2 seaters for traction control

When I got the buggy it was completely stripped down to the frame and had a truck bed full of parts.. There has been several braces added throughout and one in particular on the back where the gas tank is mounted that I already had to notch out the middle just to fit the engine in there because it wouldnt allow clearance for the fan shroud. This is the same bar that concerns me with fitting duals.. I think this bar was added without thunking it through first

Very Similar to Aboones 4 Seater.. this may be why he mounted his tank on to the roof bracing.. http://www.woodsbuggy.com/index.php?opt ... 894#p54894
