try to adjust your idle (bigger) it plays a big part in the final output. just my opinion but i would try there first.

A bigger idle jet or just a faster rpm idle

I would start with Checking spark plugs to see what they look like . & timing about 32de then floats level then fuel pressure 3psi then try small main jets or biger air jet . Ida like to have a 3rd progression port to make the fuel curve more flat . Call empi or cb for a update kit .

plugs look a little rich .timing is at 30 de now and floats is good i have messed with webers a ton my first set of ida im thinking intake guide im just hoping not :?:  like i said engin sounds great does not mis or stumble just gas smoke it gets worse the longer it runs. people have told me that the super flow heads had a prob. with guides i just dont no if the guides would couse this prob.man that would suck :(

go down on ur idles down go down on ur mains if it runs good over 2500 rpm,ur motor runs on idle jets about 80% of the time so try 45s on ur idles then go to 50s if its to lean

im thinking 135 or maybe 140 on the main jet and either 55 or 60 idle and about 175 or 180 air jet should get it fairly close
just my 2 cents

Here's some calculations:
Venturi : 2 to 4mm smaller than intake valve
Idle : Venturi size x 1.6
Idle Mix: 1 to 1.5 turns out
main jet: 4.1 to 4.3 x venturi size
Air jet: 200 if mains are approx. 145 / 180 if mains are approx 135

These helped me dial in my 44's and I run SuperFlo's also

Super flow have no more guide prob. then other vw head . Start play with carbs & look in to the 3rd progression port . Do a leakdown to check piston rings.
