She did very well. She liked going up the hills but not down, seemed like it kept pushing going down hill. As I watched her foot let off the clutch going down hill I found her problem  lol. Then she was having trouble with the shifter, the linkage/coupler was loose. And it also threw a belt for the second time, no clue on that. Wish there was a way to tell when the belt comes off, light didnt seem to do anything???? How do I keep the belt on? I dont have any extra shims, And the belt was brand new.

Take shims out from between pulleys to tighten belt, but put them back on the outside of the pulleys before you put the nut back on. Must be a bout 7-8 shims total or it will put pressure on your alternator bearings and make it go out prematurely. Also stand next to the buggy and eyeball your crank n alt pulleys to see if they are aligned well? Sometimes gotta loosen the alt strap and shift the alt a little. They (empi I think) also sell a kit with a couple flat washers with a key way in it to shim pulleys around a little more if need be.

I had a buggy that used to throw the belt all the time. I used a shift light as a warning indicator. It was bright enough that I could see it.

Well to answer my own question I have the fix already, Ecotec  . Just need to decide on the tranny setup. Might take up passat on his idea if I can get the manual trans for it. But I need to look at the engine placement and see if there is room.

If your going that way I think I would do an auto ez to set up and you could just hook it up in you ecu and turn the shift points.

Plus your shifter would be wild. Bc it would from the worng side.

Been thinkin of going that route. Just hate not having a clutch, but love the idea of an auto trans.

As far as the belt issue the pully is bad. the center hole is much larger then the shaft, got a new one on the way.
