So I bought an EMPI Super Shifter last year as my stock one was falling apart. I basically picked it figuring a $100 shiny shifter must be better than stock. After receiving it I was concerned about the reverse lockout and how it would work when your in a jam and have to rock the buggy a bit.

I haven't installed it yet as I will need to do a little modification and its too late to return it now. Is this shifter effective in real life off road situations or is is just for street racing.

Thanks

Hmmm... No one has any experience with this shifter?? Is that because it's design is not suitable for woods buggy applications??

I have had mine for a few years and the lockout can be a pain. With my 4 point harness on, my left hand cannot reach the lockout button. I have gotten used to it. I can now do the lockout button with the bottom of my right hand and pull the shifter into reverse.

Thanks for the responses. Mickey that's what I was hoping to hear that I could use the bottom of my hand to hit the lockout, and hopefully it won't be too much of a hindrance.

I was able to grab the shaft of the shifter towards the bottom and actually use the bottom of my hand to push the reverse lock down,, I never had to use two hands with mine..
