just built a new 1835. stock dual port heads,110 cam ,stock crank , empi 44 idf ,petronix electric distributor.

seems like 1 and 3 cylinder does not hit as hard as 4 and 2.i have rechecked everything.its got good power ,just not what i think it should.at idle 1 and 3 seems like they are barely hitting. whats wrong.is the setup wrong?

Is it a dual 44 set up or single. If its dual check your float levels and check for clogged jets and passage ways. Ive seen a bunch of empi carbs bad out of the box but you must check and make sure its not another problem.

the ignition is a good possibility, Ive had that happen to me before to. Also check the cam. With the problem being between #1 and #3 you may have a worn cam lobe. Take the valve covers of and make sure the valves are all opening the same.

The petronix should either work or not work. Not really anything in between. a cam can wear out in the first 30 seconds of runing if not lubed enough. possibly intake leak?

It depends on the cam. If its stock yes. Although I have seen a bunch of single idf style set ups on stock motors cut up like they have a big camshaft. Pull the spark plugs out and see what color they are. If they are black you need to go down on idle jet size. You want them to be brown.

Ck the comp. on all the cyl's with a comp. gauge and see if they are all equal if they are look @ the ignition or fuel if they are different look at the internals .

1835 with 110 cam will idle rough and smooths out at about 1000 rpm. as far as 1 and 3 goes, that is normal because of the firing order and the single carb intake. The only way to cure that is dual carbs. It does not seem to effect power at all. Increase your idle and don't worry about it. 041 heads would be a good choice.
