Kendal, Hows that side shift linkage working out for you. Im in the process of putting a 1984 side shift in my new buggy using that linkage.

Looking really good. For some reason I thought you were using the Davis Racing Linkage like I am. What did you use for the pivot point on the shift rod.

At the shiftbox i cut a block out of aluminum an put a 3/4 bushing from my local farm an home store bolted it to the inside of th e shift box in place of the nylon bushing for the stock shift rod the heims are .757 dia steering heims from speedway and slide nicely over the tube {3/4 stearing shaftfrom speedway}.I thought about it and think my design shows promise ie stock shifter location ease of heim install plus I have acces to machine tools! :D 8)

shift linkage came from my mind with inspiration found on this site :D i decided to do a 1 piece thing because it was easy an my trans is bushing mounted so my shifter stays with the trans. All the best stuff you have to build yourself! 8)

I used a piece of chain welded to a bolt on each end. This way the arm can "arc" as it moves and will not bind. Simple and effective.

ok you can drill large ball bearing with carbide in the lathe then use pipe to fit close. just stick bolt in hole and weld. Or you can form ball on piece of round stock in lathe an bore a socket out to fit my retainer bolts catch the rod a bout 1/2 so they cant roll or slide. study the pics If a lathe an mill are cheating I am a cheater :D

I just figured out that this set up will "flip" your shift patern side to side  that might be ok :D ,that might not, :( could be a theft deterant to go along with your removable stearing wheel and batery disconect
