If the old guys beetle was complete, that would be the least expensive route. Buy the beetle ( if the price is right) and put all it's parts on there. I'd just recommend a three rib bus and disc brakes later. You can have a lot of cheap fun with a 1600 and a 3 rib.

Ok, no not complete, but could probably get rear torsion and front end, but also have a buggy shop near my house. engine doesnt run, but i really like the idea of ecotec since im looking for a lot of power.

Trusses are both sides bottom to top. Those back two braces from the bottom of the frame to the top. If you will post or pm me your email I will post several frames I have built and you can look at them for a general idea.

I better clarify top for you. I should have said top side rail. Not the top of the whole buggy

Hope those help, i don't really do build pics but customers like to see progress occasionally. These were some of the better pics of where and or how the rear torsion was located.

That looks like the old short course/stadium car frame. I know they had a fiberglass body for that too!

Yes. sit it on top of the 1-1/2" tube on the bottom and push it up tight under the 45* tube then gusset it all together!

2x3 if you wanna run bus CV and bus shafts, they will work but can not handle as much angel as 930 Porsche CV's but with your budget I don't think you'll have the money for 930's. If you want 3x3 you will have to buy aftermarket shafts and can get a little pricy, I run bus cv's they work OK, I have broke a handful of them this year and it sucks but it is better to break a CV than your tranny so a weak link is not always bad

Yea, i looked online and they were 500$ for the pair (930), will the bus shafts be good for a eco tec? i will go look, theres a little buggy shop near my house, i will ask him if he has a torsion tube for my frame, im a better with a bus torsion or car? dont really know the difference thanks!

if you don't have any cv joints, I would go 930 for sure! Bus only makes sense to me if you already have them. price it out, not a big difference in $.

everyone says 930s are overkill...but, guess what I haven't had to mess with in 4 years, and get mass travel with no worries.

Agreed !

Plus more angle on the cv =more ground clearance
If your gona do it do it right buy good parts.
Like I said before parting one out almost always ends up costing way more :!::!:

If you cant fix it with a hammer it aint worth fixin!!!!

I made that same mistake when I built my first buggy. I bought type2 stub axles, type 2 CV joints and type2 axles only to realize later that a complete 930 setup would have only cost me a few more dollars.

To change it later will require you to replace all of the components
