Hey have a set of 930 axles, they are 19 3/4" long, 300m and gun drilled. Pro Am (Kartek). They aren't cheap to begin with and these don't have much run time on em. Could be cut down to fit on 3x3 arms which is 19 1/4". 600 + shipping. I can send pictures if you are interested

Hello,
other than weakening the axles, what does it serve?

It is not made weaker by drilling, in fact it's the opposite. A heavy wall tube is stronger than a soild round because the solid material is only one dimention where a tube is two dimensions. Once a single dimension starts to fail, read bend, there is nothing stopping it. A two dimensional material tube has two walls or dimensions working together making it stronger. There is a more technical way to explain it, this keeps it simple.

A solid bar IS stronger ...if you use it as a pry bar ("in shear").
A solid pry bar usually just bends in an arc when it is leveraged too
much across a fulcrum. A tube FOLDS as it's wall collapses at the fulcrum...because the inner wall follows the path of least/ lesser resistance. This is all directly related to the elastic strength of
the material.

A solid drive axle has a tendency to shear radially when twisted
over and over again. It is "cold-worked" in the same section of
the axle until that section becomes harder and more brittle. Drilling the axle ahead of time provides relief for the twisting action, which spreads the cold working action out across a greater area. In many
cases, the axle may elongate and become permanently twisted,
but less likely to fail completely (break).
