i make my own rear 2x3 arms i use .095 1.5 tubing but my new bug is already heavy i can use .125 x 1.25 and save a little $ and lbs at the same time do you think this 1.25 would be strong enough or should i stick with 1.5 x .095

your not going to save any weight.

1.25 x .120 = 1.448 pounds per foot
1.5 x .095 = 1.426 pounds per foot

1 way to find out. Build them then use them. You will find the weak points.

That is what we build our tubular arms out of.

i had the metal laying around so i made my own if you had to buy the metal and bearing housings and pay for the labor its cheaper to buy a set from blind chicken racing

Just a FYI,

Jeremy Sawyer (username "sawyer" on this site) builds a fine set of trailing arms for $150 plus the bearing housings. As far as the housings go, ya got a couple options. Ya can cut a set out of stock arms, or buy new for about $60 a piece.

I found a guy on STF who was giving some away for the cost of shipping ($12 flat rate from Calli). I sent the guy $30 for 2 sets.

Once I inspected the housings, I sent them to Jeremy over in PA. A couple weeks later he called me up, had them done, and he had some other business in Warren, OH (about half way beween us).

So that breaks down as:
$30 for bearing housings
$12 shipping to PA
$300 to Jeremy
$20 gas round trip to Warren
___
$362/2 sets= $181 ea set
