Post subject:  balljoint ?

i have 2 ball joint front ends one on my buggy other is junk but still has a few good torsion bars in it the one on my buggy is messed up or somethin still in nice shape but when i jack it up off the ground the one wheel leaves the ground way before the other one does like it dont have near the travel as the drivers side and by the looks the arms arent at the same angle when lifted one of the adjuster screws i guess in the middle of the beam is sheared off and dont know where to even start on tearing one apart it is the bolt on the lower beam by the way any clues and is there a way to adjust these for more height i nthe front i sit at only 12 right now and would like a little more without dumping a butt load of money in to it for a few inches more of clearence thanks

Sounds like VW Thing Spinles will give you some cheep clearence if you can find a pair. And are you wanting info on trying to disassemble the torsion to swap in the other beam?

Lift your boots on the joints, there is a slot that must be lined up with the path of travel. If the slot is side to side you wont have as much travel on one side.

the sheared off bolt is only a set screw and would affect both sides not just one i think.check your ball joints or you could have bearing seized up in your beam and not letting the arms drop freely.take your shocks off and jack it up and see if whats binding it up.do you do your own welding and fab work, you can weld a bolt to the sheard off one and take it out and replace it and you can also roll your front end back just a little bit and get a few more inches of ground clearance.or maybe a little taller front tire. just giving you few more things to look at.chad
