I have to admit this is long overdue considering I airbagged my rail first of jan., Mainly I haven't fabbed my shock mounts yet because I don't have a ton of room to mount em on stock boxed in arms with airbags. I saved some pics from the first thread I started when I was getting ready to bag it. There were a few decent pics of shock location & shock options but most of the pics were more focused on the airbag location/mounting, that's what I was needing most help with at first. I'm thinking of buying a set of Pro Comp offroad shocks since they're like $40 bucks a piece with free shipping. But unsure if the ones I was looking at would be too long??

That would be plenty of travel I would think but seems like they'd be a little long???I'm sure they'd work with the necessary work but I'd rather see someones setup and hear it from someone that that has an all around good riding setup. Brand, diameter & lengths of shocks would be great too if possible.

i ran a new set of cheap shocks (tough country-$50 each) on my airbagged buggy and they started leaking after one season....might want to look at a rancho 9000 or something like that....i havent replaced mine yet but will be before season starts

I gotta brand new set of shocks. I bought at a swap meet not long ago, i stole the bushings outta them an the rubber boots off'm . Ill sell the for 20 plus whatever it takes to ship them. I have no use for them. Ill havta go out to the garage to see what exactly they are.

The length of the shock is dependent on where you mount the shock on the arm. If the mount location on the arm travels from full droop (down) to full compression (up) moves 10" you will need a shock that has 11" or better stroke. The closer to the bearing house (stub axle or wheel center) the shock is mounted the more affective the shock will be.
I ran a set of Rancho RS 9000 shocks on my first car, they worked nice.

hey jayrod did ya happen to find those shocks? I'll take em if you still wanna ship em. PM me & Lemme know how much to ship em and a paypal address or something. I need to put some pics of my setup and see what kind of shock and where exactly would be the best place for em. This was my first experience with airbagging one and already see some things I wished I'd done differently. But thats part of it I guess

I've been lookin at what little room I have on these stock arms to try and find suitable place for some shocks and wander if I wouldn't be better off to go with a set of 2x3 or 3x3 arms? So is a 2x3 arm 2" longer 3" wider or vice versa? What's the benefits of going with wider arms? Not tryin to ask dumb question, it's just that I've always had stock arms on all of the buggys I've had and never had any dealings with aftermarket wider arms

2x3 or 3x3 will be a good choice i run 3x3 if you go 2x3 you can run stock bus axles if you dont wanna spend 100 bucks each on aftermarket ones

I have bought them for 25$ each bare (used) or 50$ with cv,s (used)

I may go that route then. Bad thing is that my T trailer will be useless until I do some modifying to it. Guess I'm gonna get some steel and make runners for it and attempt to make an H trailer. It will BARELY fit on trailer now and I've already got the wheels turned backwards on the trailer to gain just a few more inches. Next thing for sure I'm going to have to address is rebuilding my link pin front end... Been doin some searchin and looks like it's going to be a pain in the ass pressing the shit in and out. How bad are the link/king pins to put in?

another question, found some pretty cheap shocks on JC Whitney that I'm gonna order as soon as I get an answer from someone on here verifying whether or not they'll work. They're Pro Comp ES1000, my question is how much travel do I need in a shock? Measurements on these are Collapsed Length: 12.97 in.
Extended Length: 21.52 in. Would that be enough? Depending how far they're mounted from pivot on the trailing arm will affect the overall required length right?
