Is it common to cut the wheel stop off the ball joint beam? I noticed that the beam I have will turn till the tire rubs the frame (tire to frame is the stop)... just wondering... guess I will live with it as is.. Plan is to rebuild the front, like I did the rear next winter anyway. My bracket is cut off I guess (its not there) and the pitman arm is cut also where the part comes out that should hit the adjustment bolt.

You need to make some stops or you will tear up your steering box.

Never ran a stop on my cars with stock steering boxes and don't run one now with my rack. My dad welded a bolt on each spindle to limit on his four seater when I was a kid.

OK I get the idea... I will take a look and see if I can get something in there to stop it... worst case It will all come out in the fall anyway... Red, the bolts you brought up would be where? Past owner cut all the wheel stop stuff off... so its clean... I mostly didn't like the idea of the tire being able to hit the frame... but if its how a lot of folks do it... then I will let it ride for the summer...

I did look and there is nothing, I would need to make something if this is a problem I guess.

if you like the paint to stay on your frame you might want to fix it. mine is the same way and it took the paint off the first time i turned it. let me know what you do so i can copy it

lol... yeah, I may try something out... in my case everything is cut off... so hard to modify what's not there I will mess with it once I get some of the other things bolted in and working... If my drop arm (steering arm) wasn't cut off where it was supposed to hit the bolt I may have been able to weld something in there to do the same thing... hard to say, I will figure out something I guess...

Everything works ok on my a/c buggy. It shifts ,it stops it runs but the SECO center steer rack with an old Rancho shock for a dampner is the best working component on the whole buggy. It is a great pleasure to steer comfortly and hit washouts without the steering wheel getting knocked out of my hands.Atleast put a steering shock on it.

I will taken a photo and draw on it in sketch up tomorrow.

Guys I apologize my mind was thinking king and link pin not ball joint. I looked at the a book I have called Baja Bugs and Buggies book and they don't cover the ball joint much. If i had one in front of me I am sue I could figure it out. So sorry about my some-timers disease.
