I will starting on my Warrior build next month and am trying to decide what rear arms I want to build for it. I will be using 1.5 by 4 front trailing arms and was thinking about 5X5 rear arms but am also considering 5X6 or 5X7 rear arms. I will be running air bags and Fox 2.0 X 12 remote resi rear shocks. This will be with 930 CV's. I have not purchased rear axles yet so I am open to options. I will be moving the center in the wheels so It will not be any wider than stock arms. What are the PRO's and Con's of longer rear arms(other than departure angle and CV angle)?
Thanks
Kenric

Longer axle = more travel, less cv angle, acts like a spring to absorb shock loading you trans. wider will get you there faster than longer. I think longer arms are very helpful with the overall geometry of the buggy and the way weight is transfered. my only warning is not to make it where the axle is over 28" long. axles sell for around $200 for 28" and $500+ for anything over. here are the arm I built for my race buggy and the a-arm race buggy. They are light and very strong.

Nick, what size tubing did you end up using on those trailing arms?

Thanks for the input. Those arms do look very lightweight and probably work good for racing, thanks for posting the pic it always nice to see other ideas.

Is anyone running 5X7 rear arms with 930 cv's and the trans in the stock location? Are the CV angles OK?
Stilling trying to decide what to build.
Thanks

Not going to work without moving the trans back 1 to 2 inches.

I run 4x5 arms with 930's and the transmission is really close to stock location. I also run dual pivot arms, not on a torsion, so they go up and down without any camber change. I should have moved the transmission back. The cv's will click if I don't keep my angle under control. The heavy engine I run is moved forward so it's a tradeoff for me. I'd run the drive flanges and stub axles in line with each other if you don't have a heavy engine.

Thanks for the info, I guess that I will build 5X5 arms and keep the trans in stock location.
