Post subject: | end load or center load rack???? |
I have done some research and there are many threads on r&p steering. But I still have some questions; do I want a center load rack or an end load rack? ?? I have an opportunity to by an entire lower engine cradle out of a 99 Grand AM GT ..CHEEP!!!. It is my understanding that the GT’S have less turns lock to lock?? So is that good or bad for the woods?? Also when I mount it; close to the beam as possible right?? Tie rods straight and level with the front suspension at half travel??? Thanks in advance!!!!! |

Center load is stronger and will have less bump steer problem. |

General rule for best results is as follows: Center load - Trailing arm style supension (covers most Woodsbuggys) End Load - "A" Arm style supension (used mostly for Sandrails) |

Looked it up on Alldata and sure enough this style is end load. Damn it!!! The entire cradle is in a guy's yard and just wants to get rid of it. It also has the steering shaft too. O well...thanks guys at least now I know exactly what I'm looking for!! |

An end load rack out of a 99 grand am is EXACTLY what i have. If i had any more travel i would need a center load but as is works fine. I want longer arms and more travel up front so i will probably switch to center load but i'm still going to use a gm rack. I have'nt been a bit sorry for the swap and if your happy with stock arms and travel you should be fine with the 99 r&p. |
