just put 3x3 trailing arms and 930 cvs on buggy....cvs feel loose and jerky(all bolts are tight) is this typical of 930 joint ? jerky meaning if i accelerate,let off and hit gas again,it feels like trans mount loose but its the cvs

no nothing should feel loose I have 3x3 and 930s on both my cars and there are tight.what angle are your axls at did you put the snap ring on the end of your axles can you move your axles in and out what length axles did you get should be 19 1/4

check your angle. ideally you want to shoot for 20-22* sitting and max out no more than 23* till everthing gets broken in or worn in. A new set on lobros that arnt preped can break pretty easily till worn in a little.

put rings on,barely any angle on them....axles do move in and out,and not 100% sure on length,they came as a kit from appletree

also the cv has a groove machined on the outside,i have the groove closer to the flanges,and stub axles

called appletree this morning...theyre going to send me 4 new cvs and a ups shipper to send old ones back...no charge,now thats customer service! he said they might be polished balls that dont match cages...?

how easy did the cups go up on the tranny your output shafts could be wore

Use channellocks to hold outside of each cv, then twist to see if slack is actually in cv.

output flanges are correct and new...i can hold tranny flange with one hand,turn rotor back and forth with other hand and feel and see the play in cvs...

id check rotor and stub axles, for play next! never heard of a set of 930s with slack and id say its next to impossible to get a second set with play it has to be in your original parts somewhere

Alot of 930 cvs that are sold as race prepped [empi], are just a chromoly 930 with smaller balls added to enable them to be set at a steeper angle.
That might be the slack your experiencing.
They tend to pop more, but I wouldn't worry too much about them.

the guy at apple tree said they might have been race prepped...supposedly the second set was standard 930 cv...he said if i had problems with any of the new ones send them back too...im gonna call today and see if i can send cvs and axles back assembled and he can deal with it....already tired of changing cvs...

well if all that's new is your tow way out causing the cv's to run crooked from the trans i have never heard of or seen 930s doing this especially 2 sets of them

without being there, or hearing it i could be wrong, but its not abnormal for them to click. Mine always have, new or old, race preped or stock.
