I'm running 3X3 arms with coil overs and Empi 930 race prep CV's and the hiem joint pivot. Since getting the buggy going i've made about 5 test and fun runs on the lower lot. 2 1/2 hr's, 3 tops.
Anyway, bolt for hiem joint keeps working loose and I thought it had gotten bent, but its the plate that bent and the eye of the hiem joint has stretched and is binding the pivot axis. I did n't feel any impact on anything. I have it set for a minimum toe in, which pulls the trailing arm forward more than it wants to be. Is there a special type hiem to use? My kits did not include them, and had to be sourced from an industrial supply house. Also do they have grease fittings? Thank's.

I am running 3/4" rht heims on mine as the pivot point and they do not have grease fittings, just chromoly teflon-coated ones I got from the local race shop. The bolt that holds the heim joints in place at the torsion housing comes loose on me every once a while and I just kept tightening them back up and everytime I do that it helps seat the bolt into the threads better and I was able to do this several times until it quits coming loose, it haven't yet since about a year ago and it is still very tight to this day now.

I made mine out of quarter inch plate and I double sheared them, I used 3/4" heim joints and I ordered it from mcmaster carr, I bought the good ones, not the cheep ones, and the bolt I use is grade 8, I have no problems at all, never came loose

Afterburnt, that's a good looking set up. It also looks like your hiems have a grease nipple. I ordered a couple to day that do. I'll have to wait to see em to know if they're what I want. Thank's, Dave W.
