Found a 96 Beretta in a yard today. Has center mounted tierods. Is this the type of R & P that will be an easy (relative, of course) install?

Since no one had answered my question, I went ahead with the beretta R&P.
Stock inner beretta inner tie rods and stock vw outers.

Bump steer is when you go across a bump and the front end steers itself no matter how hard you hold the steering wheel . Variation in suspension has direct effect on steering.

Its 2 1/2 turns from lock to lock. Preliminary checks show about 3/16 to 1/4" bumpsteer. We'll see how it goes when it gets on the road. Have to run the powersteering lines from the engine to the front.

Reviving this old thread as I also want to do the r&p and I am wondering how the Baretta rack held up. It looks perfect being a center load.

I haven't had any trouble with mine and I've beat it up several times riding at D&K. I don't really notice any bump steer, however I'm not riding on the road either. I would suggest trying it without the power steering pump first. Mine steers fine without the pump. If you don't like it you can always put the pump on later.
:)

Hey Huey can you get some different angle shots of the rack so I can get some ideas on how to mount? Thanks.

I have had mine on the road and on the trail several times. No problems at all. Thought I had some issues with it on the road, found out I needed to adjust the wheel bearings.

I used the same rack out of a corsica but modified it so it is rear steer. I cut and flipped the housing and machined a flat spot in the rack so I could bolt the carrier on the other side. I was able to push the rack up against the beam and lengthen the steering rod.
