This morning I was able to do a little more work. It was time to get brakes on the beast. For the rear trimming down the original bracket and relocating it was easy. The front needed a little more attention as it would be visable. I started with a 1/2 " pipe but it looked to small, the 1" tube looked to bulkly. I settled on a piece of the old fork. The oval shaped gave it the look of speed. First I cut the two holes for welding it to the the forks. Next was the mount hole for the brake. Next came the support guides. Tacked to the forks I used a ten speed rear derailer to keep the chain lined up so the front sprockets can be shifted. The tops of the forks will get trimmed flush and nuts welded inside the fork tubes. Chrome washers and bolts will top off the upper triple crown which will get the corners rounded.for a finished look. |
