This is basic safty stuff. How many of us knows, or knows of someone loosing a car to a fire because there was no immeadiate fire supression there, or there wasen't enough?

Who carries them, what size and type? Where do you keep it and how is it secured? All real important stuff.

I am a retired Firefighter/EMT with 25 years experience and for some reason, up untill this year, I carried no fire protection. I carried some medical stuff, band-aids and gauze and stuff but nothing for fire, such a schmuck.

Every one of us NEEDS to carry one for our own insurance. If all of us were to have one, a small fire in the woods would be just that, a small fire.

I was planning on carrying one. If you know how to use it properly any small extinquisher should be able to put out a car fire. I work for a gas company and we take fire training every couple of years. We actuallly put out live gas fires with ext.. Just aim for the base try to spray downwind and make sweeping passes.. The course really makes you confident in the case of a fire of what your extinquisher is actually capable of..

I stopped at Wally World the other day to buy one and didn't find one that mounted worth a crap. Went to three auto parts stores looking for one and none of em had one. Like Mad Mike said, would like to hear what is working or not working from everybody else.

Thanks.

This is what i have and its just mounted right in front of passenger seat. This past summer was out in the woods cruising when the guy in front of me's buggy caught fire. Fuel line came off the carb. No fire extinguisher around ether. Had to empty the beer from the cooler and get some water from a near by puddle. Since that day I always have the extinguisher with.

I have mine mounted right in front of the driver seat under my legs, I just mounted the thing to the floor with the cheap mount that came with it (with some concern about security) after 7 years and a couple of replacement fire extinguishers its never fell out, even upside down..

Funny.. I keep one in my jeep at all times but I have never mounted one in the buggy.

Here are some jeep ideas...

If anyone ever needs any type of fire extinguisher or bracket just send me a p.m. Fire service is what I do for a living. I will make one statement and you can use it how ever you want. At our place of business we will never work on any Kidde fire extinguisher. We throw them in the garbage or shoot them with a high powered rifle.

Friend of mine's nice '60 VW.
Burned downtown Indy on the interstate.
He emptied his extinguisher on it.
Would have been a lot worse without one.
Brass fuel nipple popped out of carb spraying gas on the engine.

On edit, just saw this post was nearly 4 years old but still very relevent........... :)

I keep two in the buggy. One on the fire wall between driver and pass and one right under the pass's thighs. Need to figure out something as far as mounts because i keep having them fall out when racing. Even zip ties manage to break every single time. :/ Haven't lost one yet but we have been lucky hahaha :)

Scroll through these threads and even check eBay. The quick release mount that jduck sales is easy to make and somewhere on hardline there is a thread of how to make them but couldn't find it. Chad
