TOUGH TRUCK INFORMATION
(AMTA) Chandler, Arizona. Attn: Tuff Trucks. Here are a few guidelines below that should help answer any possible questions regarding Tuff Truck competition. Any driver 16 or over may enter.
Is there an entry fee?
There is no entry fee. However, all participants must buy a pit pass at the check in gate ($20.00). This allows access to the pit area.
How many people are allowed into the pits?
Up to four people (including driver) may accompany an entrant. Each must purchase a pit pass and be over 18 or older.
What type of vehicle can be entered?
Any vehicle may be entered. The vehicle must have an approved restraint system (stock seat belt/shoulder belt) or racing restraint. Roll Bars/Cages are required on any open or enclosed vehicle.
What optional equipment is permitted?
Since the event is “Run What You Brung”. Any on or off road equipment is allowed as it does not represent a safety hazard. Specific equipment not allowed includes nitrous oxide kits, alcohol motors or any other equipment.
What will the track be like?
Since all facilities are different, there is no standard answer. Typically, the racecourse is made up of dirt obstacles (whoops, mud, ramps, jumps etc). There may be simple obstacles such as railroad ties, semi-truck tires or a car to run over. The course is timed and emphasizes driving ability as opposed to raw speed or power.
How do I enter?
Participants are encouraged to enter in advance since at many shows the number of participants is limited. Please fill out the entry form at sponsor’s location or Fax to AMTA.
When should I be there?
Participants need to report and check in at the Pit Gate between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM the night of the show. On afternoon shows (11:00 AM to 1:00 PM) even if you pre-registered. Running order will be determined at check in. How many entries are permitted? The other aspects of the event (how many Monster Trucks and / or specialty acts) will determine this number. The projected length of the show may also determine the number of entries.
How is the event scored?
Usually, competitors get at least two passes and sometimes three. Each pass will be timed. The fastest time will be used to determine the finals. This however is subject to the individual race coordinators discretion.
When do Tuff Trucks run?
Heats will be scheduled to alternate the various Monster Truck events and interspersed throughout.
What should I bring?
An approved helmet is necessary, but limited tools and personal items. Not allowed are any type of alcohol, drugs, pets and children under the age of 18. Video cameras are not allowed.
What is the purse (payout)?
$800.00 is the usual cash total for each night of competition (Base on 10 or more Tuff Trucks). Generally, the top four places are paid (First Place $300.00, Second Place $200.00 Third Place $150.00 and Fourth Place $100.00... Many times, there may be a “Bonsai Jump” for the driver putting on the best show (Bonsai Jump is $50.00).

Since every event differs slightly from another, many items contained in this information may be subject to change or modifications subject to the race director. THE DECISIONS OF THE RACE DIRECTOR IS FINAL.
Since the event is only part of an entire show, your race may vary as necessary.
