k so i just got the engine to fire up a few weeks ago. it has some solex carbs i bought for 100.00. i have the stock distributor that has the vacume advance. cant use it due to the aftermarket carbs. the engine is somewhat hard to start, and i have to play with the throttle for it to fire. it will not idle so i constanly have to play with the throttle. where would i start?

First thing is to clean, clean clean the carbs and set the float levels. Then Sync the dual carbs. They will not run well with out doing that. It requires a gauge to do it. Do not use the cheap Manometer style as they block to much Intake air. Verify fuel pressure etc.

do you think drew's would sell the gauge, i dont have one.. and i was thinkin about gettin a new distributor while im up there. is the boshe 009 distributor have a vacume advance? am i hurting performance with the stock dis. since its not hooked up to the carbs? also on my my intakes i have i think an empi manifold. there is a nipple on each of the intakes. is that for a balance tube? i hope cause thats what i did

Get the 009. Mechanical advance works great as do the points. You can go electronic later. Drews should have the gauge. A new coil might help as well. Get a Bosch blue. Its a great match for the 009.
