I dunno as of now, I am thinking of around 1400-1500 range maybe more or less not including myself, for the power you have, it will make up the difference from the weight of mine compared to yours (power/weight ratio) I will know for sure hopefully soon after I get it put together with a set of racing scales and go from there, you will have no problems with the 3.44 first gear and it be just fine for what you do.

1000#s makes quite a difference. Thats like pulling almost 2 of your Buggy. That why i am hesitant about the 344. I really want a 355 however they do not make it for the midshift.

I know what you mean Ody, but the big Suby engine you got should pull it fine, it is all about trial and error, not all buggies are the same, just have to try out different stuff to get it where you like it, I am still trying to adjust my buggy to get it to where I want it   by putting in a bigger powerplant and different ratio tranny

  Woah.

A Tank. 344 is tall for a heavy buggy. But it might be OK???? Talk to one of the trany builders they should know more. are you running 31 tractors? or 33 or 35s??? That would make a big difference also.

In my old 2 seater (wifes buggy now) I ran a 344 1st with stock RP. It was a good combo. But for rocky trails where you had to creep along it was no good. It was too tall. I had to ride the clutch a lot.

Having to ride the clutch is my concern with the 344. I am running 33" cut Boggers and a 4.83 R&P. Wellsville has a lot of slow rocky trails.

Ody,
I run 3.44 and 2.46 and 4.56 ring and pinion with 31" tires. Same set up I put in Mad Mike's trans. I like it.

With you running 4.88 ring and pinion and 32 " tires, the results will be almost the same as what we have. You have twice the power I have so there should be no issues. Call me if you would like to discuss in detail.
