I've seen thick and thinner rib 091 end shift cases too.
Not sure what version came in what year though........ :?

i think it is where they where sold in the united states,like 83 diesels had 5;43s in some parts of the US and 5;86 in other parts

Stock 6 rib ring and pinion is strong but it is not indestructable. Using 35" tires on it sure WILL shorten the lifespan. Usually the demise is directly related to the pinion bearing failing, the nut coming loose or the bearing not fitting tight in the case. Usually all three end up happening sooner or later when you hammer on them. :|
