Ok, everyone talks about them, but no one is specific to what is done, so here the questions are. What are drilled valves? How big are the holes? How many holes are there in 1 valve? Are the holes in both intake and exhaust? What are the advantages or disadvantages? And last what, and why do they make horsepower? Please help me with my ignorance to this subject.

If you sell out on us WES you know what will happen "I WILL HAVE TO TELL CHARLIE" $50.00 will not do it. All I can say is it gets rid of all that bad compression, but you have to run arround 15.55/1 to make it work. But Wes you know they told us that is all we can tell I will ask to see what the for-sure price is for forignors/outsiders.

Ok Guys, drilling holes in your valves defeats the purpose of them in the first place, to seal the combustion chamber during the compression and ignition stroke. Drilling holes in them would be like having bad rings with out the oil smoke. So for now I think you guys having been smoking way to much of that Wacky Tobacky and unless you can prove me wrong with some documented Dyno testing for now your full of CRAP!

I build 3,500 horsepower Blown Hemi motors that run on alcohol with 54 pounds of boost and I have built hundreds of VW hotrod motors as well as everything in between. Holes in valves sounds pretty cool. I will have to try that.

Arround 95% of the buggys that were sitting on top of the big hills/Mountians at D&K Memorial Day had them. It is the way you drill them it takes some special tools to do it. Some of the big name people that makes Heads for VWs has contacted some of the ones in Ky that does it to try and get the pattern. But they will not sell out.

You cant have a motor bigger than a 1461 otherwise drilling the valves is useless,Thats what charlie told me anyway.

It lets out the bad compression, like Bruce stated, therefore the engine spins more freely and higher rpm's are obtained. The size and pattern of the holes are crucial or you will let out too much compression. I've probably given too much info. already, so thats as specific as I can be or Charlie wont drill my next set for me..

Normally, only KY climbers are eligible to have this done to their engines, but Bruce is in KY so much, he was let in on it.

Hmm, I have built many engines as well, and this does not make much sense at all. First, holes drilled into the exhaust valves would most likely cause the valve to burn very quickly (holes will get bigger, fast), especially at 15:1 CR. Holes drilled into the intake valves would allow fuel mixture/compression into the intake causing blow up through the carbs or having to re-cycle the mixture again and again. Now if the holes were REAL small, it might somehow help. It still seems like it would hurt botom-end performance, imo. I thought all compression was good, unless you have too much in the first place.

I may totally wrong but I overheard a conversation and I think the hole is drilled right through the center of the valve and through the stem. I am not an engine builder so I am just sharing what I heard. Although even a simple guy like me knows holes in valves cause compresion leaks and compression leaks are bad.

IF YOU RUN PROPANE LIKE I DO, YOU NEED EIGHT NO. 2 PENCILS TO PUT IN THE VALVE GUIDES(TO REPLACE THE VALVES). THAT WAY YOU CAN ERASE THE BAD COMPRESSION FROM THE GOOD COMPRESSION, ALSO THE LEAD FROM THE PENCILS ACTS AS A FUEL ADDITIVE.
