Finaly got a chance tonite to test out my new custom geared tranny Chuck Jones built for me....

HOLY SH!T :!: :!: :!: Can you say WHEEL SPEED??? Or TUNNEL VISION?? WOW!!!

My other tranny was custom geared too, but the combo of the new motor and the gearing Chuck recommended me to use is UNREAL. I've owned crotch rockets that wished they had this kind of acceleration!! My old door slammer drag car would be jealous , too.

It feels like it goes from 0 to "O.M.G.!" in NEGATIVE .02 seconds!! Time warp!

Gears are spaced just right. And he talked me thru RE-setting up my single seater shifter and its smoother than my Nissan car's.

I cant wait to test this baby in the woods!!!! I'm friggin stoked!!(as if you couldnt tell  )

I wish my driving ability was as good as this tranny is gonna make my buggy go!! Its WAY faster than me!

Sorry to sound like bragging, but......GEEEZ!!!!!!!! its badass

Bruce1 is NOT BS'ing about Chuck , He is a GURU!!!!

your already good! Just a little more seat time so you can add all thoes up and it will all fall into place!!!

right now you have

100% equipment
100% balls
100% skills
? seat time with all the good stuff.
This winter we will get them all added together!! Be looking for a good rain suit. It is no fun when you get wet but it is fun when it is sloppy wet and about half frozen. The rain suit just keeps all the mud and wet off. They also keep you warm. See yall soon!!!

Sounds good Bruce!!
And , thanks Buckmaster.

Gotta get some seat time for sure!!

My buggy feels totally different now, but it feels goood! Staying down a little better too, with the suspension changes made while installing the new tranny. Had a good test day at Darrells, riding around with my son and his little uncle Hunter  yesterday.

Dang diesel prices sure do put a hurtin on trying to get seat time.

Heck regular gas prices have jumped to $4.19 up here. When i lived in Florence,KY i would go riding every weekend at Lily pits or Cromer, and it would cost me about $150,that included 2 cases of beer, fuel for buggy and food. Now it cost more than that just for driving down there and back,no food or beer. But this government aint going to stop me from seeing that new tranny in action or doing what i practicly live for(besides my wife and kids)hanging out with kool people and riding the best place in the country.I am done complaning now, sorry about jumpin your post Larry.

In the worst way Wilbur!!!
Its worth every nickel with these new motors we got. Better off with smaller motor without Chuck's gearing!

I was like you , didnt see the big deal and not too crazy about the power delivery, but the gearing completes the package. Makes it ALL come together.

Now I can REALLY tell what those 4 extra mm of stroke are there for!!

Dont know, you have to ask Chuck Jones.
Different R&P
Taller first,
lower second.

Tell him how you want it to perform and he'll make it do it!

Each buggy is different. (due to weight, motor etc.)

Call Chuck and he can fix you up.

Im not in the market for a trans at this point. I dont know yet if the stock 84 Vanagon side shift will do what I need it to do. The new Turbo buggy only has a few miles on it. Im more curious than anything to know what the gears are in Kys trans that makes him so Happy :D .

I honestly do not know. The R&P is close to a 3 rib, is all I know for sure.

I did ask him what he thought I should get when I first talked to him about it and he rattled off all kinds of numbers and ratios and combo options and blah blah blah. Trannies are still black magic to me. The only thing I cant do myself to my buggy.

I finally just said, "I just wanna climb better than Bruce"
and Chuck said, "Right, no problem. You're a native KYian" and went to work!

I'll never catch that transplanted GA/KYboy.
He's got too much seat time for me.
